NaNoWriMo 2009 The Prelude

27 10 2009

NaNoWriMo 2009 starts this coming Sunday. A fact I just realized about 30 seconds ago.  Another fact?  I am very happy it’s beginning on a Sunday. I could and probably should kick the event off by staying awake Saturday and beginning to write at 12:01 Sunday morning.  That will probably make church the next day and chore but I am still leaning that direction.  Lots of writing hours on Sunday.  That can set the tone for the whole month.

I am still very happy with my outline and my story line in general.  It’s a good idea. And it’s funny.  And who knows…

Dot Dot Dot.  Who knows maybe the world will love it and I will be famous by summer.  Or maybe my Husband, Mother and friends will love it and I will be famous amongst them.  Every dream starts with the first step.  Every dream needs that moment where the fear of failure is overshadowed by the fear of not even trying. So you take a deep breath, you walk to the edge and you step off into valley of your dreams.  You find the path and your journey has begun.  Scared? You bet.  Reluctant? Every dreamer is at sometime. Brave? Fake till you are.

First steps coming soon

50,000 words?! In November?!

20 10 2009

It’s that time of year again - National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo 2009).  I have been wanting to do this for several years now but have always thought “Who am I to think I could write a whole novel?”  and  ”I have no idea what to write about!”

This year I started early (late September) and started writing down any and all novel ideas no matter how far fetched or ridiculous.

Most didn’t make it past the first round of internal voting – such as “Childless by Choice”, “Cancer sucks and I hate pink!” and the mildly interesting “How to change your religion 3 times in 3 months and end up with the same one”  Not to say that all three of those might someday make a great read – just not this November.

This November 2009 I will pound out…

Well I am not going to give up the secret just yet.  I will tell you it’s 1) funny  and 2) it’s about a dog

So, it’s 11 days until November.  I cannot officially start the novel until the 1st of November but I can research and type up an outline (which I will be doing today)

It’s going to be a challenge with work, family time, cooking but this year I seem to have a spark!
